What i think is that we branched off from the mainline Kshatriyas during the early Islamic invasions in North India and suffered the same fate as Rors of Haryana. Also I'd like you tell you one more unique thing that our specific gotra practices "Gotra Endogamy" with "Village Exogamy" and doesn't mixes (martial relations) with other gotras of same caste. So I think that were wrongly bundled with other clans of a different Jati during British period just like they did with different clans of Yadavs. Also the Shankaracharya certified book जाति अन्वेषण written by a brahmin talks about our specific gotra referring to us as of higher status than other gotras of lodh caste.
