Since the previous thread seems to have hit bump limit, here is a new one. Like the last one which expanded the scope from semiconductors thread to also include electronics, this one will do the same for low skill manufacturing and other sectors as well.

Mahindra has a factory there and Tata was supposed to get back there (not sure if already have) but they won't be able to scale up fast enough if this is the case. A shame, it was proving to be very good for our rising exports.

>A government report estimates that reaching the 100 gigawatts target would require 19.3 trillion rupees ($211 billion) investment. That’s about $10 billion every year from now until 2047.

If our opposition wasn't so innept, this would be the kind of thing they would be criticising while the goverment prematurely celebrates over winning textiles from Bangladesh.

They were supposed to be 7 massive textile parks that would boost India's exports. It was announced in 2021, and still not even 1 is even complete let alone operational.

Trump probably going to change his mind again, but for now, it shows initiative from goverment.

The failure is primarily from state government. These are mosty BJP government's failure but you have Indi alliance there too.
And private capex have struggling for a long time now. I've read that domestic demand will push it, but I've yet to see it happen.
To be clear, the absolute number is still high, but as a percentage it's very poor.

This is a big feat. Modi said that before GST, a french company found it cheaper and easier to send stuff from Banglore to Europe and then to Hyderabad than moving it directly. Shows why India's manufacturing never took years ago.
