hello
I have been using a wifi named mi 3c for years now. The internet seems to be working (on desktop) when connected directly through the lan cable howver it fails to connect through the wifi router (on all devices including the desktop).
The settings are the same as before when it was working. I have reset the router and restored the previous settings.
Is it time for me to change the router or can I solve it somehow?
how do you decide when you need to replace an old wifi router?
Suggest me the cheapest but workable routers please or should I just contact the internet supplier for their in house router?

If it is still not working after you reset it, probably time to replace the router.
Don't use ISP given routers, they are usually trash and you can't change many settings.
>Suggest cheap routers.
Probably you should look at reviews on Reddit for you situation.

sir, I just need a router that connects me to the internet where I would just be doing simple browsing and simple youtube and online shopping.
Will the isp routers do be able to do that for me for 2-3 years straight?
I really don't want to waste more time in figuring out tech stuff

Yes, then you should go with ISP router, or buy new one of your now broken router.

ok so I am back. MI doesn't sell any router anymore so I would need to buy some other brand.
I went on reddit and they have some serious retarded problems like having some gbps network and what not.
My internet is just 60-70 mbps speed on lan, and it's more than enough. Those aren't even my problem.
My problem is that do I buy the cheapest available ie dlink dir 615 and will it work ?
I see people talking about firmware updates and stuff from openwrt, I don't want to deal with all of that so most products that I see under 2k have stopped their "firmware" or whatever they mean, support from the official site so people format and upload firmware to these wifi somehow again I don't want to deal with it. So will having old like decade or 5 year old firmware be a problem? Problem in the sense that I won't be able to connect to the internet because of software issues, not hackerman problems cause everyone living near me is illiterate so idc.
Just pick me one which will connect to the internet and let me browse in peace. If it is gonna last me I can shill 2.5k on it. what are you guys using and how is it working reliability wise(idc about muh abc gbps not bcd mbps)
Also the cable guy doesn't sell wifi routers no more.

Also amazon has a new return policy wherein they don't take returns but you have to physically go to a physical service centre if there is any and physically deal with it. So all I am doing online is carrying out the buying part, online so is it worth it buying things online instead of going to an electronics store? Why are people buying things online now? Amazon should fall by now but it isn't.
I mean it is on a tangent but with physical stores you can harm the owner if he doesn't go by his word but here you can't and the only reason online store worked was cause in offline store
>I go to store buy things
>I go replace things if defective
>guy gives me money or another one (depending upon how expensive the item is, the more care was taken to deal with it by the store guy so you would know from the get go that 500 rupee things aren't always gonna be replaceable)
>store guy would go to service center or dealership and return with your product
>he will delay you and cause you harassment but ultimately give in
Hell some store owners even bought cheap chinese stuff in bulk and dealt with the warranty issues himself because of how high the profit margin was for him). If it wasn't he would stop.
So these led to the behavior of
>people going to local stores for everyday and moderately priced items so that they can return those products and the distance from store to home wasn't far
>people going to large stores to buy expensive items cause the reputation of the store mattered and expensive items rarely had to be returned
Now the reason people adopted online shopping was cause it bypassed all the previous heckles but now all online stores are doing this then how is it any helpful other than using them as a reference point for the prices and reviews ?

What the hell? You people talk about this and that and can't tell me what wifi to buy for simple internet usage?
I am seriously confused cause let's say all of dlink products under 2000 has reached their end of life thing and they won't post any more updates and so people doing hose open wrt types also say that their updates had already stopped or will stop.
So now what? Do you buy fansy expensive stuff and then do those open wrt things later on for security or do you just buy the cheapest one and don't bother anymore?
Why is Dlink selling their end of life routers in india when they had already asked everyone in the west to throw their old routers (same models) out cause no updates would be given so what is the deal here what do I do?

Yaar, you just need a router to do normal internet shit. Buy any cheap router of known company, why are you doing so much research on this.

Also router updates are of no concern to you. No real hacking happens in lundia

oh so the 1000 rupee one. but I have a bad reputation with tp link. bought their wifi adapter those pcb thingies with antenna ones and they didn't work, had to replace them multiple times but it still didn't work and now they don't even allow a replacement.
saw dlink service centre in a city near me tho so maybe I will call them up to see if they actually exist and buy it I guess. the dir 825 thingy works for a friend of mine in the same isp but even that is eol so might s well buy the cheap one cause 825 costs 2k now
tbh MI router was so good, wish they just kept selling their routers. even if they sold expensive ones, would have bought them cause their router lasted me for so long and were quite hassle free unlike tp link adapter thingy that came with a fucking CD and you needed to install the driver through a cd without which your thingy wouldn't work. who uses a cd? and none of their online drivers worked. I am sure they would fuck me again, I just know it

If there is d link service centre in your city, buy d link definitely because it would be easier to resolve issues.
