Yaar diversity has nothing to do with it. India genetically is same more or less.

We have achieved great many things for a country which is developing and has mere per capita of ~3000 usd.

Take singapore, multi ethnic and highly diverse country still it's great because

All our problems which we directly interact with are due to single point failure which are municipal bodies - the day we reform those and solve it 90% of the task will be done - city planning, garbage disposal, food hygiene, food adulteration prevention, better public infra in general etc.

A capable local authority would ensure that retards who violate rules will get gaped harshly. In India our local enforcement of rules and regulation is non existing which is the cause of it all - a major difference compared to any better of country.

Once we stop tolerating these rest of the things will improve by a large factor.

A part of it is a function of PCI, other is that we need to completely rage down municipal bodies and restart from scratch. Strict enforcement at local level for policies - whether it's law & order or anything else.

Humans like any other animals are born with no pre disposed understanding of how things should be. Every country including developed ones had a history where people were uncaring, chapri tier behaviour, hawkers, garbage, hell euros literally used to use bucket of human shit and throw it on the streets.

But overtime, things evolved - they learned, iterated and improved - made regulation, had strict enforcement of such regulations from food, to buildings to parks, to public infra etc. Over generations of people following these basic rules lead to an almost 'implicit' behaviour where it became norm for them.

All of this was result of continuous changes, improvements and learnings.

Yes garbage dumps are bad, city infra is bad currently but as long as we are looking into it finding problems and trying to solve it there's nothing to be doomer about. You can never have chnages in one generation.

But over few generations, improvements, iterations and following it will result in a better outcome.

The very fact that it bothers you - the state of our cities etc. our society is a good thing because this means there are countless here likes you - out of which many will improve and provide solutions - some will fail some will work a bit of learning from that will result in next set of implementations and thats how we grow.

Democracies are complex, despite all planning etc. do not expect linear changes it will be haphazard but all of it is pointing in a positive direction which is good.

This meme is a result of the fantasy of manchildren who never left their mom's basement.

Human society can be termed as a diverse as well as homogenous based on your parameter but most important thing as an adult should be to learn to co-operate between various groups of society to create a sustainable better future.

Of course two groups will have differences, if we start looking at divisions and kept fighting over it then we will never be out of wars so solution is to look for places where we can work together - that's what adults do. Of course there will be times of conflict but it should not be the first resort - only last one.

It all starts with you, then your family then your close relatives, larger gathering of relatives, your caste, religion and your nation. Depending on your duty your priorities may change.

I have two degree of thoughts on this, first is your share of responsibility. You should first take care of yourself then family, then your relatives your caste your religion your nation. You can tweak it as per your need but important is that first be capable enough - if you can take care of yourself then only you can take care of your family only after that you should care about rest on and on. It's lame to worry about nation or religion or caste if you are a basement dweller who can barely do anything for your own.

Some duties however supercede these order but even then it depends on the second thing, what is that unites the subgroups you are part of. Like why should you care about your brother? cuz he is your family. Why should you care about your cousins? Cuz he is a relative. Why should you care about a person of different caste? Because he is an extended kin to you. Why should you care about a religion? Because in an extended civilization the social fabric you find more commonality with him. Why should you care about any other person who is not your brother, your cousin, your caste your religion? Because we have this entity called nation - state. There can be an extended version of it based on humanity. Why should you care about humanity as a whole or say misery about africans or chinese or anyone else? Because we are from the same species? Then we can have something on planetary scale.

This is the reason why once you build relationships and layer of responsibility you can see that co-operation is possible. How it is possible and how to actually do it. In meaningful way.

Once you do this, you have a decent framework to operate. A classification of responsibilities and duties - you don't have to hate others etc. It's just that based on the context duty varies.
