There should only be five main branches of engineering: Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, and MatSci/Chemical.
Everything else is some larper teaching stuff that is better off learnt on the job

I think they were made in the era where BPO was just getting huge and every bhadwa was looking to get into WITCH. You had a lack of workforce with computer skills back then, so anything went

I don't think your average mechanical or civil engineer learns much about technology in the layman's sense during the course of 4 years. The degree should be BE, BTech is only relevant for CSE and again, CSE is not real engineering.
Like, look at the syllabus of what they teach CSEbhangis at IIT Bombay. It is literally just a mix of concepts taken from EE and CS, jack of all trades that gives you no real knowledge in either domain (unless you grind theoretical parts of CS yourself) Why do they do this? And the specialisations are just bullshit, I'm certain it's just a loophole to get more seats in your college
