Its oversimplistic madrasi logic. India is a quadrant in shape. MH, GJ are western india. MP, Chattisgarh are central india. UP, haryana, RJ are north. Punjab, JK, HP, UK are far north. Bihar, bengal, odisha, jharkhand are eastern india. Assam and hill states are north east/ far east. You can see these distinct zones in topographic map. They have hills, rivers separating them.
