During British era a lot of the said group decided to basically consider their Varna as Brahmin, in hopes of more prestige. Even before the changes their surname to Tyagi, they were predominantly vegetarians, coming under the same groups of region as me "Gauda". Naturally a few of them do eat meat. They would normally have clans divided into two core categories. Dasah and Bisah, with Dasah being one who allowed widows to remarry into other Tyagi family or Bisah who prohibited the marriage of widows entirely. Lingusticslly they spoke Khadi Boli, Kauravi and Haryanavi, with some speaking language from region of Rajasthan. A very few of them even had good times with Gujjara region (Gujarat and the Rajasthan) so they would speak Gujjari as well.
