I can back this up from my experience with my mom and dad. The woman in the relationship should be one or two points lower than you.
Also it is necessary to be popular with women or else there won't be any intrasexual competition among women therefore no incentive to fight.
The hard part is being popular with women. I guess familiarity is important but as we know many of us went to co-ed schools where they still segregated girls and boys, especially in higher classes (I'm from a tier 2 city, I'm sure that isn't the case with tier 1 schools).
Unfamiliarity generates doubt but also curiosity.
