Don't do mechanical. It's a painful field. Do mechanical only if you get in top colleges like IIT/NIT. If you do mechanical there is a high probability of unemployed/inceldom.

Look, the only mechanical engineers earning well in india are the ones who switched to IT.
and by tier 2 private colleges you mean VIT/Thapar, etc don't do it. The fees is not worth it. The only reason I did mechanical engineering was because my fees for 4 years was 85k. Earlier, mech grads would go to German for their masters, but now German is literally a dead economy. That option is closed.
