>Here’s the meaning and context of Surah An-Nisa (Chapter 4), Verse 97 from the Quran:
“Indeed, those whom the angels take [in death] while wronging themselves – [the angels] will say, ‘In what [condition] were you?’ They will say, ‘We were oppressed in the land.’ The angels will say, ‘Was not the earth of Allah spacious [enough] for you to emigrate therein?’ For those, their refuge is Hell – and evil it is as a destination.” — Quran 4:971
Interpretation and Context
This verse addresses Muslims who remained in hostile, non-Islamic lands despite having the ability to migrate to safer, more religiously supportive environments:
“Wronging themselves” refers to those who lived under oppressive regimes or environments where practicing Islam was difficult, yet they chose not to leave.
The angels’ question at death — “In what condition were you?” — challenges their choice to remain in such places.
Their excuse of being “oppressed” is rejected if they had the means to migrate.
The verse concludes with a stern warning: those who failed to act despite having the ability will face Hell.
Exceptions and Mercy
The following verses (4:98–100) clarify that:
Those truly unable to migrate — due to weakness, lack of means, or knowledge — may be forgiven by Allah.
Those who do migrate for the sake of Allah will find abundant resources and refuge, and even if they die during migration, their reward is guaranteed
Our muslims love their prophit but the prophit does not love our muslims enough and is sending them to hell in whole sale package.
