Chennai beach are probably the worst manage beaches i ever had opportunity to visit. Due to the political class which is propped by dehati fishers who are culling native species, destroying every beach, lame maintenance and kachra everywhere. Worsttt...

Kovalam Blue Flag beach is decent enough too. If i remember correctly it's public but way south.
