firstly, the geography... tamil nadu has a long coastline with multiple natural ports... that alone makes it a better candidate for industrial development than half of north central india... the british realized this early, so they made madras one of the three main presidencies of british india... that meant ports, railways, schools, and bureaucratic infrastructure were built there before most indian regions even had modern roads... chennai, coimbatore, and parts of tiruchirapalli got early exposure to trade, administration, and industry...

the industrial base was not built by post independence politicians... it was inherited... textile mills in coimbatore, leather in vellore, engineering in chennai all had colonial roots... by the time india gained independence in 1947, tamil nadu already had functional cities, educated elites, and a semi modern economy...

post independence, tamil nadu did not screw it up... that’s a big deal... while west bengal chased marxism... the dravidian parties may have been populist, but they were not anti industry like west bengal...

also worth noting is that tamil nadu did not concentrate everything in one city... coimbatore, madurai, salem, and tiruppur also developed into economic hubs... that spreads the wealth, reduces migration chaos, and keeps regional growth balanced... again, not some overly genius just basic governance...

it’s not just education or some enlightened leadership... it is a state that got a head start from the british, had the ports and geography to support trade, and did not completely sabotage itself after 1947... that alone puts it ahead of half of india...

There were no major famines in TN post independence, even the midday mean program was not a famine response

Tamil Nadu still had railways, ports, urban centers, and industrial belts earlier than most states due to the colonial administration.

That infrastructure didn’t vanish after independence, even if policy slowed things down.

There isn't ((much)) correlation with development but theres huge population difference. But Difference of 5-10% matters a lot when comparing when looking at numbers 20-30. (20-25%) avg 22 and (15-20%) avg 17, has difference of almost 30% Same with other numbers.

-middle belt (MH, CH, JH) has 2nd lowest SC population

-KT, AP, TLNGNA, RJ, MP, UK has 30% less Sc population than middle belt

-TL, HR, UP has 60% less Sc population than middle belt and

-HP and punjab has almost 2x Sc population compared to middle belt.

And to mind none of the north states have sea line which helped south so much, yet HR, PJ, west UP, HP and Uk are much better states to live than middle and every other states with 30-60% less SC states.

If only, it shows like how insignificant SC scare is. Only 1 state which has less SC and significantly good and even that so coz of biggest sea line and dhandho bros.

Correct. Theres no relation of Sc populations to development whatsoever. But, Barring 4 southern states, overall, states with less SC population are bigger shitholes than higher SC pop. HP, HR, PJ, west UP, delhi are preffered over others 19 states.
