Nope, all 1st and most 2nd years have to share a room with another guy. I am fortunate I only have 1 roommate unlike some people who have 2-3 in one room (housing is quite hard to get in small towns here). However, the room is split such that one half is entirely mine and the other half is his stuff - only thing we share is a minifridge and a microwave

Blaady I have to take 7 subjects per semester literally the maximum (18 credits) if I want to graduate on time, I started university in January instead of August like the other students so I am behind by 1 semester. I have nonstop classes from 8am to 6pm 5 days of the week (which isn't that bad actually, but my campus is massive so I have to walk 1-2 kilometres extremely fast from one building to another in 10-15min when one class ends), exams on Sat-Sun and a fuckton of assignments to do in the limited free time I get. And I have to find time to study for all of the subjects themselves when I'm done with homework because the midterms are approaching.
The worst thing isn't even the copious amounts of work and the massive divide between my grindcelling and my Chadpreet roommate's nonstop partying; it is the risk taken daily by trying to walk to classes in -20 celsius every single day. It snowed 1 week ago and it still hasn't melted because temp has never gone even near 0, so you have to walk through the mud/snow/icy water mixture on the sidewalks and try your best not to fall. The US really is a car-centric country
