Indian cities are a meme, aside from certain princely state capitals from the Raj Era, none of the other have any features that could qualify them as cities.
Most of these "cities" are just extended slums and encroachments.
Truth is there is no functional government at local level, nobody cares about it, the municipalities have no money, they simple follow whatever order comes form le "upar".
there is no ecosystem overall, for example there is no concept of urban planning in indian cities, there is no department or officials for that in any city.

Infact British Raj was the last time cities (actual ones) in India hired proper architects for designing public buildings, and it wasn't just this, the kings were personaly involved in the construction of all these gardens, lakes etc because for they considered these cities their properties.

The problem could have been avoided if people just did not mindlessly following another, its like saying just because one person shits on a street it become a designated shitting street, see how fucked up that sounds right? throwing garbage at a place just because another did is a micro example of that, one thing I have noticed is that indians always seem to be in a hurry, like we are hurried to get there so we will break traffic rules or we are hurried to get this trash off me so I will just throw it anywhere, Without understanding the greater implications of such
Now some people cope by saying that we dont have enough trash cans, but even this is not true or a necessity, in most cities even in west you can't find trash can in every 100 m radius, the simplest way of this would be that the person is aware enough to keep the trash with him and then throw it whenever he finds a trash can or just at home

Genuinely this, people are so emotional over their state or even country but forget that most important part of their 'desha' which is their district or city.
